Hey everyone, I'm "Ab". You may or may not know me. If you don't, maybe my old usernames may ring a bell if you're an old user.
I got my DSi XL as a birthday present in the year 2011. I was 8 years old. Maybe around 2 months after recieving my DSi XL, I discovered Home4DSi, probably through Flipnote Hatena. I was looking through the Links section and saw a site called 3DSPlaza, but I didn't pay much attention to it since I assumed it was a site only for the 3DS.
The month is December, and I decide to try the site out. To my surprise, it had a DSi version. So, I registered to the site under the name "ab3DSPlaza". 2012 happens and I get my name changed to Ab3DSPlaza (do you remember when you could get someone to do that? wow). After couple months of inactivity, I get a 2DS for Christmas 2013 and remember 3DSPlaza and decide to exist here again. To follow the trend of users having c o o l n a m e s, I get my name changed again to ~Ab~, then .~Ab~., then (.~Ab~.), which is the name that remains on my original account today. In 2016, I get my account changed to this account with the username being Ab3, a nod to my original name. It would've been Ab if there wasn't a character limit.
Now that we're done with that Ab history lesson, I'm going to go through some of the memories of this site. I remember mookie - I think that was their name but I probably got it wrong - being the first person I ever talked to on 3DSPlaza, over 5 and a half years ago. I remember Junaid, a great user who was always nice to talk to, who eventually got modded along with Barry and godhydra (GawdHydra now), something that I witnessed happen. I remember angelrulez7 (SpriteMite now) and his wapka site 3DSAR7 which was actually a bit popular. I remember my wapka site, DSiWebsite, which I created because everyone else was doing it. Wapka was what actually introduced me to HTML and CSS, which is pretty cool. I remember megabeanish and the alt, Beanish, which was some sort of signature group thing or something, I don't remember. I remember when I first saw Robdeprop in the chat and I was really surprised for some reason. I remember saying the same thing over and over again, trying to say that I would be a good mod - I was 8 or 9, Rob, forgive me pls. I remember when everyone talked about Zero and what he/she did, like it was an urban legend.
I remember CoolApps (now NodePoint), just a cool person to talk to, who is still doing things. I remember people like GreenGuy, SammyKinz11, roxasmaker, tcg77, judowarrior (was that his name?), soFunGirl, Dreu, NinjaFruit, and so many other people.
I remember the constant MySQL errors. I remember when everybody (including me, on 5 different occasions) made some weird 3DSPlaza High School story things. I remember when the Miscellaneous board was reset due to the amount of posts.
To shift the focus away from the peak of 3DSPlaza in 2012/2013, I can't forget 2016, where I met even more great people like ZarktyArk, pwnzor3dsguy (who i knew way before tbh), Shyguy2469, Jehuty (Tach), Metro3ds etc. I remember when I liked Splatoon a bit too much (i still do but not as crazily, splatoon 2 anyone?). I remember when the Woomy Squad was a thing. I remember squirtle2016 and ley111, people who we (pretty mercilessly tbh, but they deserved it... maybe) pretty much destroyed. I remember hearing about 2/11 - an event I missed that involved some mod called Epsilon or something.
I've had an account on this site for over 5 and a half years. That length of time is almost a third of my current lifetime. I'd like to thank everyone who I made friends with, and I'd like to thank Rob for creating a site that brought so many people together. Sure, it may be primitive and dead now, but 2012 and 2013, the peak of its interest and popularity, was just a great time.
If your name wasn't mentioned, please don't take offence. I'm talking about events that happened years ago and so I don't remember everything that happened on this site within the last 6 years. Even if I did have the memory of an elephant, there would be so many things to mention that it probably wouldn't be able to be covered in one thread.
If you read the whole essay, well done. If not, here's a tldr:
Too Long; Did not Read!: I remember registering to the site in 2011 and I remember all the great people I met. I thank Rob and everyone who I made friends with for everything.
