For a while now I've been seeing the phrase "plaza is dead" popping up and so I tried to find out in what way this site could be improved so These are the Ideas I've come up with

===SITE RENAME===

This sites very name is a part of the reason it is dying the lifespan of the 3DS is coming to it's near end the Wii U as well so what's next "NX Plaza?" no I think that the site's name is what is causing a lack of users and for many reasons but the most important being: It appeals to Only Nintendo fans no Sony fans no Microsoft people usually skip over this site purely because the name first impressions are everything and if it causes people to stray away then the site was doomed from the start it should be geared more towards other gamers not just Nintendo gamers for example:

Gamer Galaxy!~Where Gamers are Free to Roam

Something like that only with a better name than the crappy one I came up with

===Interface===

This interface needs a rework badly. Just look at other sites geared towards the 3DS such as 3DSThem.es which carries custom home menu themes which can be installed via homebrew the site looks and works great! this site in comparison looks like it was made In MS paint with 5 Hours to spare (or made in 2 seconds)!

===Stricter Mods/Better Rules and Policies===

Mods are just like normal people only they have a bit more power they can ban a user if the user is not following the rules they are a bit lose however and sometimes someone can slip on through this is why a bot should be created say hello!

BanBot: Greetings! I am BanBot programmed to enforce the rules strictly If a mod isn't present in a chatroom or forum.

BanBot isn't real but could be I Know users have been in a room and not followed the rules and got off Scott-free well unless I'm in the same room that is. [img=NaNxNaN]http://3dsplaza.com/global/chat3/i/icon_trollface.png[/img] BanBot could Ban users
If a mod isn't present he might not be used commonly but I've counted a Number of times where mods weren't present and someone broke a rule this is just a suggestion I don't know what else could be done but the goal here for BanBot is to make Mods lives all the more easier

The rules are on the front page before you enter a chat take some time to read them also I think there should be rules in place to protect against a "NSFW Incident 2" so mods don't ban someone "unfairly" I put that in quotes because sometimes it is actually unfair or accedental and other times it's a 5 yr old who wants to keep swearing on the site speaking of which...

====AGE LIMIT====
This site needs an age limit not too old but not too young either and I know of the "Lying about age" thing but I'm sure there's away around that such as having the site scan 3DS data or PC data and see if you marked your birthdate on it thus not allowing immatures in the limit should be 14-20 at least tell me what you think it should be in the comments.

===Improved Functionality for Fourms and Chats===

You know how Plaza+ and PlazaTools made by Fayne_Aldan (Fayne) and MarioErmando (Erman) add features to the chat's and forums such as formatting and extra icons? these should be Features of the actual site this benefits users and the makers of those extensions so they don't have to worry about it Erman wouldn't have to worry about forum formatting and Fayne wouldn't have to worry about anything going wrong if he changes something in an update in addition people want some commands in the chats /milk cow has already returned but there are still people who want /news or something else because aside from the cow point's are useless aside from the shop which I'll get into later and Plaza+ adds more to the roster but give points a meaning again

this is just plain Lazy people refer here because they want to know how 
certain commands and you don't tell them plus the old /help icon which the chats introductory message tells you about has been removed minor nitpick but seeing as how /help doesn't work and you may as well be biting a rusty nail looking at the help section you basically have to ask a user and some are unaware a day 1 user wanting to know a command then someone pops up and says:

Nuenez: /raeg @DayOneUserHere

some will actually believe that person then BAM 10 minute ban. this is why if you are going to provide a help section you need to update it other wise new user that have never been on the site before will be banned wrongfully.

===Shop===
There was 2 shops Icon Shop and the normal shop (which you bought the icon shop) If plaza was ever revised I would love to see the Icon Shop make it's long awaited return

also I think the shop has a load more potential there are sites that can run console games right on your browser such as:



SSega is capable of running your favorite Genisis/GBA/Flash/DOS/SNES/Turbographics16/NEO GEO/MS&GG/MSX games all run smoothly as long as your computer isn't filled with files I think this site should do the same only with developed game by the users for the users and allow them to use a program that makes great games Multimedia Fusion 2 (MMF2) or (Clickteam Fusion) which made these games:

All of these games were made using Multimedia fusion and were well received! Sonic After the sequel was said to be the unofficial revival of classic sonic same with freedom planet and FNAF? DO I EVEN NEED TO SAY A WORD?! It skyrocketed to the #1 Spot of horror games one could say it's the king of all horror games. so just imagine games similar to these through a shop? crazy but at this point I'm just daydreaming. All I'm trying to say is If SSega can put Genesis games on browsers we should be able to develop Genesis style games on the shop here who knows what's possible?



===Wrapping things up===
Main point of all this is this site should appeal to others but doesn't because of a few things that need changed and If the above is taken into consideration then plaza may just be as lively as it once was my question to you guys is what do you think plaza needs to appeal to others? Do you agree/disagree with some of my points? please feel free to post below and I'll see you guys later *turns into a bag of chips and flips away*

If a webpage can access such data then that would be a security issue. It's highly likely that's not possible, at least on most browsers. Unless there's a Webkit exploit that allows it, though don't bet on that any time soon.
Even if that were to be possible, users are able to fake such data on those devices too.

In short? Don't count on it.

This would only be useful for if users don't bypass it like by using the zero-width white space unicode (don't get any ideas) and if you're wanting to prevent NSFW content (like links) then expect a very long blacklist that can pick up innocent posts.

Rob said that he doesn't plan on creating a site that relies on product popularity anyway.

If you mean custom icons then forget it. People would then be able to trick people as if they have some sort of privilege and they could put up something that isn't allowed.

Those are actually good ideas, that might actually work, except for the age restriction part where it would scan your computer for internal info? Such as banking information? Or your social security number? The site would be facing a lawsuit Not more users, that was probably the stupidest thing i have ever heard, it needs to be burned and disposed of properly.

I agree for the most part, however, I think we might as well make a new site altogether instead of refacing this one; considering there's so much content to be changed and added, this would become a completely new site by the time it's finished (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

This is somewhat true, but for a site that's specifically about being 3DS compatible and Nintendo gaming, broadening the horizons might not be a good thing...we'd just become another social gaming site for PC and whatever else can handle it. When I hear "Gaming Glaxy", I don't think "3DS compatible", because social 3DS sites aren't very common...you don't think about a 3DS as being a social device that loads web pages very well. We need to make it clear to 3DS users that this site was built to run smoothly on their 3DS.

So again, as a separate website altogether, it might not be bad...if you could advertise it as 3DS compatible as well, you might be getting some 3DS traffic, but not likely as much as you would if it was in the title.




Can't agree about the interface more. We need this.


"Stricter Mods/Better Rules and Policies"

As for the bot, I don't know how many of you remember this, but Robdebot's original purpose was to bot mod the chats. He was only useful for warning proper swears (which were censored anyway), and I believe he was removed since in that way he was mostly useless. Either users would bypass, or he would be warning users who perhaps mistyped the word "shirt"...it wasn't really helpful.
A bot to warn users for every possible bypass, inappropriate context, insulting etc. would be incredibly complex. There are situational circumstances that "human" mods can easily identify, but bots cannot. I think bots would make people more upset than real mods do.

On the note of real mods..."better" mods will always be a need, no matter how many policies or changes there are. Spend enough time on any social site that's monitored and you'll always find issues with the moderation. There will always be someone who doesn't agree with the way moderators do their thing...So I think it's important that we just make sure Mods are the best they can be...dependable, responsible, consistent, and non-bias. That being said, it's difficult to find said aspects in children. I believe the only way to fix the quality of the moderation is to fix the quality of the community.

False banning is a pretty bad issue, though. It would be good if we had some sort of "ban appeal" feature or something.

"AGE LIMIT"

This is really the only part I strongly disagree with. Gamers are all ages...I don't think you should be disregarded from gaming or socializing just because you're under or over a determined limit...but this is why having strict rules in place is important so that all ages are protected.

In general, yes. There are countless features that could be added...I don't really care which ones are, just as long as they're useful.

I only wonder how many features you can add until it starts slowing your 3DS down.


Anyway, this site undoubtedly needs some sort of refreshment...not just to get new traffic, but to keep what users we already have here, coming back.
