PMs being mandatory to friends only is a horrible idea unless its only for newer users. Leave it as is. Give users the choice.

I'd update the layout...give it a more modern appeal. Add the nice useful features everyone has been begging for but will never get.

Honestly, I think if we got an active admin who would face-lift this site and its features, the quality of users would increase as well...and then everything flows together to be something pretty great. No site is ever without its flaws, but Plaza has (or had) the potential to be amazing. It might still have a chance of being revived, but it better be soon. :T
