How do you feel about edgy characters (anti-heroes) such as Shadow, Dark Pit, etc.?

If they're done right they're fine (Nero from DMC4 is an example).

However, very rarely are they done right.
The worst of the bunch are Shadow the Hedgehog and DmC Dante. ShTH and DmC are my least favourite games solely because of them.

"Ow the edge" and here I was, thinking this was a Mirror's Edge topic.

Anti-hero doesn't mean "edgy". Anti-hero simply means a character who isn't antagonistic, but lacks heroic characteristics like idealism and morality. Characters like Shadow the Hedgehog and Dark Pit do fit this bill, but it has to do with more than just being a gritty character.

Characters like Wario, Conker, Kratos and Solid Snake are also considered anti-heroes, and someone like Wario is far from being "edgy".

Personally, I think some anti-heroes are pretty nice. It paints a different picture from the whole idea of the "goody good" hero, which if done right, can have great character development.
You won't see me here, but you might find me if you look in the right places.

I think he meant to say The Boss.
you know it.

Spoiler: show

Big Boss isn't an antihero, either. He's a villain or a hero depending on the game,
