"Polishing and fixing up 3DSPlaza"
Lani (2015-07-31 16:02:14)I'm pretty sure old accounts are deleted in order to save space...we've had several data crashes before. I'm not greatly familiar with how data works on websites so I'm not certain accounts contribute, but I'd assume so. Most accounts are alts, anyway....
As for the account accepting...I know I've always hated when I'd join a site and had to wait for activation, but now that I'm on the other end I absolutely love it.
Account activation was put in place to stop spambots, mostly. People were making endless accounts to spam the chat (they could avoid floodguard somehow), forums, and now user's PMs with porn. Though we can't filter how every new user plans to spend their time on Plaza, we have more control over it repeating itself when they do get banned for doing something stupid...or at least give ourselves a breather between spam attacks while the spammer awaits account activation.
IP bans are completely useless, unfortunately. User's can easily change their IP with the push of a button, or use a proxy every time.
Other than that, I can't argue with anything else on the list. I agree.

Hello, I've been gone from this site for several months, almost a year, due to school and whatnot. After being gone for so long, I've been seeing this site from the perspective of a new user. Many things have changed, for better and for worse. Thus, there has been lots of clutter, and in my case, confusion when I try to navigate 3DSPlaza.
The user Gold made a topic in the Feature Suggestions forum with many good points, but he later locked the topic because it was a forum with little to no activity. I'll be copying and pasting what he posted in his topic.
"I kind of made a thread like this last year, complaining about the moderators and stuff, but this time I'm gonna list out all the changes that should actually happen in order to fix up 3DSPlaza.
The list:
-Fix the forum emoticon list in order to be the exact same as the chat, even when updated.
-Delete irrelevant forums like the Triniate and the 5 TUC Spriter forums. Both of those apps don't exist anymore and don't need forums dedicated to them anymore.
-Add a quote button to the forums
-STOP deleting accounts. This is a big reason I have. Every account gets deleted within 6 months. At one point, we had over 60,000 active accounts, now it's only to 5,000 something and it is shrinking everyday. More people are getting their accounts deleted than more people are actually joining. Plus, there is no actual reason to delete accounts and people often don't like it when they visit once and their account is suddenly gone.
-Remove all the broken apps off the 3DSPlaza shop, and make users have the ability to delete apps off the DSi / 3DS versions of the homepage.
-Update the "About the 3DS" section or for the love god, just remove it. The section was last updated before the 3DS even launched.
These are just basic things that I think should happen in order to polish 3DSPlaza, and I hope SomeLuigi or Robdeprop sees this." (from this topic.)
To add on to that list, I don't think new members having to wait for their accounts to be activated is the best procedure. A lot of the times, these people will forget all about even signing up. That's what I do whenever that's the case in other websites. If this new procedure was implemented in order to prevent ban evasion or inappropriate usernames, there are better ways to avoid this, such as IP banning, not letting users make more than one account on the same IP address, or setting up a system to detect inappropriate usernames.
This site isn't by any means bad, it's always been one of my favorite websites. But after being here for so long, you kind of want the best experience for both new and old users. So to whomever this may concern, take this into consideration.
