This is the story of Theld Rambon, an edgy badass with telekinetic powers. Reading the prologue (where Theld isn't involved) is not required, but it does have something to do with the story.

prologue show
Thousands of cloaked men and women stormed the palace, crossbows in hand. Most came crashing through the windows, some through the front door. Glasses of wine fell to the ground and shattered as people desperately flipped over tables to shield them from the arrows flying at them from all directions. The nice clothing everyone wore for the event were now torn and stained with blood. The sound of violins being played was replaced by panicked screams, crying children and chandeliers falling to the ground and smashing.

The dance floor was now a bloody battlefield. Like acrobats, the cloaked individuals swung around on curtains, firing their weapons at anyone they saw. They ran across walls, seemingly defying gravity. They had perfect aim. Some threw knives from eighty feet away that landed right at their targets heart. Nobody could do what they did. It was a once sided battle. They did not acknowledge the begging and pleading of anyone, even the children who wanted to stay alive.

"Who are the peasants now, eh?"

Said a tall man wearing a bright red cloak as he slowly entered the room. He stepped on many bodies as he walked toward the large wall of tables in the center of the room. Some of the last few survivors were hiding behind it, stacking more furniture around them. He poured some gasoline all over one side of the protective fort and one of the cloaked guys threw a torch. The survivors burst out from inside the fort and made a run for it toward the front door. The man in the red cloak, a master of many forms of martial arts had everyone on their backs in seconds. Arrows came from all directions and dug into the fleash of the last eight surviving victims. One man kept his eyes closed. He didn't know every person there, but they were all people he came to acknowledge and respect. He didn't want to see them like this. He went limp and accepted defeat. He could feel a couple arrows in his leg and a knife sticking out of his ribcage. He lay there, wondering if and hoping his aquantinces had a good life.

Until he realised.... The noise had stopped. The peasants had killed the rest of the people and assumed he was dead. They were now walking out the front door. They just stood there, staring outside at something. The man rolled into his stomach. Grief made it hard for him to move more than the arrow in his chest. He looked right at the man in the red cloak as he got on his hands and knees and dipped three of his fingers into a puddle of his own blood. The blood seemed to light up for a second, but the man dismissed it as his imagination. (Why do I hear the sound of chaos coming from outside? Are they attacking the whole city?)

Without knowing why, filled with the desire to help as many people in danger as he could, he lifted his arm, pointing his three blood covered fingers at the man in the red cloak. His blood lifted itself off the ground, flew threw the air like a bird and pierced through the cloaked man's fleash like a spear. The cloaked men turned toward their leader, then slowly looked back at the man who had just controlled his blood with his mind.

The man quickly yanked the arrow out of his ribs, folded his arms around the wound and quickly threw them outward at the peasants just as they raised their crossbows. Arrows and hardened drops of blood collided with each other. Red drops like bullets tore apart the bodies of each peasant in the room. No arrow reached the blood weilder. He stumbled toward the door, trying not to step on any bodies. As he made it outside, the sound of chaos grew louder and louder. Though it wasn't caused by the peasants.

Almost everyone had developed telekinetic powers and were killing each other with it.

"Animals..."

The man made protective armor around him with his own hardened blood and created an axe made of wine he found spilling out of a bottle. Single handedly, he destroyed everyone in the city who harmed anyone. However, it was not only his city that was affected. With everyone he truly cared about gone, and the whole world plagued with violence, the man was ready to give up. He sat down, evaporated his own blood and waited. Time froze suddenly. The leaves falling down stayed put in the air where they were. All the noise stopped and all the light dimmed. A little boy appeared infront of him. He looked nine years old at most.

"I am the prophet."

He said.

"Would you like to become immortal and clense the earth of its current state? Would you like to help those who are still alive? I will give you new blood."

Chapter 1 show

How long do you think you can imprison me, human? You're a stubborn one aren't you?

A voice echoed in Theld Rambons head as he began waking up. Sand fell down from his hair as he lifted up his head. (Where the hell did all this sand come from?)

As he stood up, more sand fell out from inside his clothing and he realised he was sleeping in a crouched position. His eyes stung and his legs were wobbly. (I was just now at Noah's house. How did I get here?)

Theld looked around in horror as he began to realise he was in the middle of a desert. There was nothing on the horizon. He looked around behind him. There were a few footprints pointed towards him that weren't completely covered up.

"I must have come from that direction."

Theld walked as strait as he possibly could. He wanted to wonder why he didn't remember anything about walking into the desert, by he knew it would distract him from walking perfectly strait in the right direction. (I could get lost so easily out here!)

His bare feet were burning from the hot sand and his legs had little strength in them. It was as if he had been running non-stop for days. Theld came to a halt. (If I'm running from something out here, maybe I should have continued in the direction I was going...)

Theld did not like the thought of slowly dying in a desert. He didn't want to spend hours going back when the nearest civilization could be closer than he thought. He continued dragging himself forward, doing his best to ignore the burning in his throat. Sometimes he decided to run so that he would get there before dying. He would always decide it would only speed up the process of killing him and start walking again, only to change his mind in less than an hour. Eventually, Theld was no longer able to ignore how much his legs were aching. He continued putting one foot infront of the other without thinking about it. He knew that if he stopped, it would be harder to get moving again.

He kept an eye out for clouds, tumbleweeds and cacti as he walked. There was nothing but sand for miles. The thought of being stuck in a continuous loop tried to force it's way into Theld's mind several times, but he refused to let it stay. The sky began getting darker. (Is it becomming night or am I dying?)

Theld didn't like thinking about death. He tried the best he could to keep his thoughts focused on one thing. Walking strait ahead. He hoped the desert would eventually end. He hoped to see something, anything on the horizon. If he would have counted every step he took, his whole mind would have room for only numbers and his memories would be replaced. )One foot infront of the other. Only that. Just focus and you will live, Theld.)

Desperately, he stared with his stinging, bloodshot eyes at the empty horizon and he pressed on. The light faded completely a lot faster than he anticipated. The cold began to seep in.

"Are you ready to start your training, Theld?"

"One sec, I forgot my blade."

Theld frantically searched his room. He didn't remember even running inside and up the stairs. (I scare myself sometimes.)

The blade was suddenly in his hand. He was outside. He looked at Lance, his teacher.

"Are you ready for your training, Theld?"

he said the exact same way, except his mouth didn't move. The sound seemed to come from the sky or something. Wait, I don't keep my sword in the house. (I don't even live there, do I?)

The whole world seemed to turn into a cloud of blurryness. Theld could see the desert again. His feet were still moving on auto pilot.

"what the...."

Theld couldn't tell if he was asleep with his eyes open or hallucinating. If he would have counted every step he took, his mind would have room for only numbers and his memories would be replaced. Desperately, he stared with his stinging, bloodshot eyes at the empty horizon and he pressed on. He hoped to see any signs of civilization eventually. He hoped that his work would pay off. And it did. There was a town strait ahead.

Chapter 1.5 show
Suddenly becomming aware of his surroundings, he noticed that the sky was suddenly as bright as it was when he woke up covered in sand. (Did the night already pass during my hallucination? Was it actually a long dream?)

The first thing Theld saw was a lake. It immediately became the only thing he could pay attention to, other than his throat suddenly becomming one of the lowest circles in hell. He wished he could break into a run and dive in. When he was right in front of it, he fell forward, letting himself fall face first into the water. Strangely, consuming the water seemed to make every atom of his body five times as exhausted as he already was. Theld closed his eyes, letting himself sink deeper in the cool water. After he relaxed his muscles, he floated up. He was now floating on his back. He took glances around at his surroundings, only moving his eyes. It was a small, poor looking town entirely made of wood. A harbor. He had been to one before.

After a minute of lying in the water, he heard a voice call out to someone. It was deep and slightly rhaspy. (Lance?)

Theld swam back to the sandy shore. When he stood up, he realized how much energy he had recovered. It was odd. Theld was sure it'd take days to be back to his normal self.

"Master Lance!"

He looked around. He wondered if it was really Lance's voice. There weren't too many people around. (Surely I can find him in no time if he is here.)

He called out a few more times, but there was no response. He wandered around the wooden town aimlessly for a few minutes. He went back to the sand and sat down in it cross legged. Theld desperately tried to remember why he was there. That morning he ate some bread, went outside and talked to his friends for a while, got his bow and went hunting. He caught a couple of rabbits and a bird. He went back to his house and gave them to his mother to cook. He went back outside and collected some firewood until a raven holding a scroll in its mouth flew into the window of his house. His father came out a minute later and told him that he got a message from Lance. (Then suddenly I was in the desert? There's a gap in my memory....)

Theld stared at the sky for a while.

"You alright, but?"

and old man asked him as he walked by. Theld smiled at him and nodded. He caught a glimpse of someone in the crowd of people passing by who looked like his friend Matthew. (Matthew!)

Theld remembered going into the mountains where Lance was after getting a message. Although training didn't start for another hour and a half, Lance requested to see him. When he got to the spring, Lance was there talking to Matthew.

"Thank you for coming."

said Lance, without turning around. He knew he was there. Not even a butterfly could sneak up on Lance. Hell, not even air could.

"Matthew has decided to become a student. However, I'm afraid something urgent has come up."

Lance's expression rarely changed at all. He was hard to read, but from knowing him for so long, he could see a tiny hint of worry.

"If you could show Matthew the basics of air telekinesis and sword fighting until I return, you may have this."

Lance held up a strange ruby shaped like a cube with a bite taken out of it with two spirals coming out of the sides. Theld had always been interested in all the strange objects Lance found on his travels around the world. Apperantly Lance was trying to find a specific one. All he knew about it was that it had a strange shape and could not be broken apart without telekinesis.

"Of course!"

said Theld. He was always glad to be of any use to Lance.

Lance tossed him the object and started walking back down the mountain.

"I will try to be quick. If the sky turns red, stay at the spring where you will be safe."

Theld's smile faded. Lance did not ever joke around, but why would the sky be red and why would it be unsafe? This made him nervous.

Matthews face was hardly readable. He didn't seem at all afraid. Matthew looked at Theld, awaiting his instructions. Theld didn't know Matthew very well, but he had talked to him a few times in the past. From what he remembered, Matthew was a quieter person. He was a very efficient worker and didn't seem interested in building friendships with anyone.

Theld placed his hand on a rock. A green glow shaped like a line covered covered a small part of it, then spread outwards quickly, covering the whole thing. Theld cleared his throat.

"There are three types of telekinetic powers."

He lifted his hand and the rock floated closely below his palm, now no longer covered in any glow. He moved his hand around and the rock followed. His vanes seemed to pop out of his shaking hand. He was clearly struggling.

"Solid telekinesis. This one is harder for me to do because I primarily use gas. With this type of telekinesis you can move solid objects. Unless you end up using this type primarily, you can only move one solid object at a time unless they are touching each other."

The light around the rock disappeared and it fell to the ground.

"The 'weight' of whatever you are using telekinesis on will either be doubled or halfed, depending on how well you've developed your ability to use the state of matter of what you are moving."

Theld gently placed his hand in the spring and a thin yellow light spread across the water in all directions, making a circle twice the size of his hand. then disappearing all at once.. Theld lifted up his hand and a disk of water hovered under his hand, almost completely still. Theld wiggled his fingers around and small ripples formed in the disk of water. He extended his hand toward the spring and the disk flung itself back into it.

"Liquid telekinesis."

Matthew didn't say anything. He wasn't the type to space out, so he must've either been paying close attention or not amused at all.

"You can shape the water without using the aura if you develop your water telekinesis ability. "

Matthew had no comment. His expression was emotionless. Not angry, sad, happy, or even bored. Just neutral.

"Gas."

Theld continued. A large red ball of light seemed to appear above his head and dissappear just as quickly. Theld's hands were behind his back. The air swam around like a fish, knocking leaves off of trees. It then turned into a spiral and started shrinking. It then turned into a ball of swirling air.

"Gas telekinesis is the one I chose. By becoming more skilled at using it, I can even form combustions and control fire."

The ball of air began to turn into a small ember.

Chapter 2 show

"Once you develop your ability to control a certain state of matter enough, you will be able to control it without touching it. Once you do this though, you won't ever be able to do the same for the other states of matter. You'll only be able to control those to a certain degree. The power you can gain with your primary element though, is limitless. If I became powerful enough, I could break apart an entire tornado."

Matthew looked like he was finally about to say something.

"The prophet can control all three states of matter without touching them though. Does that mean this is a thing only he can do for some reason?"

Matthew asked.

"You are exactly right! The prophet is different. He has saved humanity many times. Only very few people know how he got his unique powers, but he says he knows the origin of all powers. Even aura."

"I see."

Matthew wasn't much of a talker. Theld recalled him saying once that he didn't like wasting time, so he continued the lesson.

"The one you chose was gas, right? I'll show you some ways to move the air around..."

That's all Theld could remember about that day. He wondered if the sky really did turn red and if Matthew was alright. He's probably with Lance. He'll be fine.

He wandered around the harbor again. Many people stared at him as he walked by. At first he thought it was because he was barefoot, but he noticed that nobody looked at his feet. The people glanced at his eyes for a second and quickly looked away. A window at the front of one of the shops displayed some of the items sold there. One of them was a mirror. Theld went to look in it and see if there was something wrong with him. He stood in front of it for a minute without really looking at his reflection. He wasn't sure what to expect. (It can't be that bad... I probably just have something on my face.)

The second he glaced at his reflection, he immediately saw what was wrong and froze. His irises were black. They used to be light brown.  He stared at his eyes for a few minutes, moving them around, examining every angle. He tried squinting really hard, hoping that somehow it would make them go back to normal.  He didn't know why it bothered him so much. He had always wanted a unique eye color like Lance. Lance had cherry red eyes that could make lions flich if he were to glare at them and at the same time, it still looked natural and human, unlike Theld's black eyes. Maybe it was the freckles in them or the way light reflected off of them that made Lance's eyes seem just as normal as everyone else's aside from the color. Theld wasn't so lucky, but at least he was now slightly more like Lance in a way.

He was about to look away when he noticed something else. His hair had also lost its color. It was just as black as his eyes. This, he wouldn't mind so much, if it weren't for the fact that he was no longer recognizable. How could he possibly prove it was him now? He was about to look away again, but he noticed yet another problem. His skin was as pale as a ghost. The tan he was proud of that he endured many painful sunburns to aquire, was now gone completely. (Hopefully by standing in the sun all day I'll get at least that back.)

Suddenly an orange light began covering the glass of the window from the bottom left corner to the top right. Theld's eyes widened. Just as the light covered the entire rectangle of glass and disappeared, he jumped out of the way. The glass pulled itself toward Theld and barely missed his face. He was grateful for the fact that Lance had helped him develop quick reflexes. It was not very often someone broke the law and used telekinesis outside their own territory, especially in a public area, yet Theld was suddenly being attacked by a solid weilder. The rectangle of glass was slightly longer than Theld's body. It was still in the air for a second, then quickly turned sideways and launched itself toward Theld, spinning like a shuriken. Theld jumped up and stomped one foot downard in the air just as the glass went below him. A blast of wind came from below his foot and smashed the glass into pieces. Theld ran in a random direction, unsure where his attacker was. The few people in the area panicked and ran in all directions. As he ran, Theld saw something in the corner of his eye get swallowed by light quickly. He turned his head just in time to see a rocking chair flying strait toward him. He only had time to shut his eyes tightly before the painful collision that would come. Suddenly, the most bizarre noise he ever heard boomed in his ears. It was not a sound he could possibly recreate with the help of any other objects he knew of. When he opened his eyes, pieces of the chair were going all over the place as if it had exploded. To his left he saw a man just fifeteen feet away from him with a large stone floating above his palm. The man was tall with short hair and broad shoulders. The symbols on his clothes meant that he had some sort of authority over the other citizens. Theld didn't remember doing anything wrong. The man looked shocked, but did not show any fear.

"I NEED BACKUP. THIS CHILD CAN USE AURA!!"

The man yelled.

"Aura?!"

Theld looked at his arm. His skin was covered in a thick glow of bright blue aura, unlike the thin, dimmed light that blanketed the edges of objects before telekinesis was used on them. He held his palm out infront of him, wondering if he really did gain the ability to use aura during the gap in his memory. Sure enough, an orb of blue light that resembled a bubble appeared right above his hand.

"Aura is a different type of power. All life that exists can control it, though it isn't clear what causes people to be able to use this power in the first place. It is very rare, but if you do happen to acquire it...."

Lance had told him

"remember that it uses up large amounts of your energy at a time, sometimes enough to kill you or put you to sleep for a few days if not used with caution. Also, it is a lot more powerful than what you are used to. Without any effort, you could accidentally evaporate buildings."

Theld willed the orb to vanish and sprinted away.

Chapter 3 show

The vanes in Matthew's forehead seemed like they could burst at any moment. Sweat began to trickle down his face.

"He's so focused..."

Said one of the people watching from behind large pieces of rubble. Matthew told them several times they were not allowed to watch, but they couldn't help themselves. It wasn't often people were able to master their powers so quickly. Poor Matthew hadn't gotten any privacy since the day he showed up in this town. He did not come here to save them, yet everyone saw him as the answer to their prayers. The one that would save everyone. Matthew had only one goal in his sight; to find Lance and join him in his battle against the raven swarm. He felt morally obligated to.

He had spent fifteen minutes keeping his eyes on the sphere of swirling air thirty feet infront of him. He willed it to compress more and more tightly. If he broke concentration for merely a split second, he would not have the energy to control the deadly combustion that would result. He would lose control. Stedily and ever so slowly, he compressed the air as tightly as he possibly could. He could feel it getting hotter. Once again, his 'grip' began to loosen. There was nothing he could do but let go. The explosion left a wide hole in the ground. A blast of wind expanded outwards in all directions and blew some of the people watching backwards.

"I told you all not to watch me. You'll get yourselves killed."

Even though his aquantinces could hear the tiredness in his voice, they all scattered away like frightned squirrels. Matthew sighed. He didn't understand how they could possibly find him intimidating. He was a pretty normal looking human. Short brown hair, green eyes and long, slender limbs. Nothing that unusual, right? Matthew had already forgotten about what he did just a few days ago. Everyone else in the town was still talking about it. After a few more attempts at creating fire, Matthew collapsed. He woke up in the mayor's house. He could hear people talking in another room.

"Yes, the one with black eyes. He was spotted just East of the island."

Matthew knew who they were talking about. It was his aquantince who also trained with Lance. He couldn't remember the guys name, but he knew it was an unusual one.

"East..."

Matthew went into the living room. The mayor and a couple of his friends were sitting around a fireplace drinking tea. Matthew couldn't remember the names of any of them. Their eyes lighted up when they saw him.

"Ah, you're awake. Care for some tea?"

"I'm fine. Were you talking about the new aura weilder just now?"

"Yes, he was found recently at the desert not too far from here. Honestly, I just don't understand why that boy won't cooperate!"

Matthew wondered what they would think if they knew he was associated with him. He wouldn't mind if everyone on the island hated or at least disliked him. To most people he had always seemed cold and aloof. Some assumed he believed he was superior to everyone else, which was why he never remembered anyone's name. That wasn't really the case though. On this island, however, it was the complete opposite. Matthew had a great reputation since the day he was stranded there. It was a nuisance.

"Are you the boy who took on frosty in the cafe?"

Asked an old man sitting in front of the fire place. Frosty was the nickname given to a delinquent who had been causing trouble on the island for years. He would disappear by creating small blizzards around him and vanishing like a magician. Frosty wore a black cloak and a mask made entirely of ice. Nobody knew what his motives were. He would just come out of nowhere and start breaking stuff or hurting sombody. There was a guy Matthew's age who was considered Frosty's rival. His name was Levi. He came from a family of skilled martial artists and would fight him each time he appeared. Nobody on the island could use telekinesis, so only he could do anything about the problem, although he would end up getting hurt badly each time. Frosty's rampages usually ended when Levi showed up and did his best to stop him. Matthew had a lot of respect for him.

"He sure is!"

Said the mayor.

"He showed up mysteriously on a raft, bleeding from the forehead and covered in bruises. Some were on the shore when he arrived. When they asked what his story was, his only response was 'you wouldn't believe me'. He went to the cafe, and he had tons of gold on him! After he got his tea and say down, that darn drunk Samuel came up to him, attempting to intimidate him into giving him some of that gold! But this young lad here just completely ignored him! He showed no fear whatsoever!"

Matthew could tell by how exited the mayor was getting that he was once again about to tell the same over exaggerated story about how Matthew 'stopped' Frosty.

"Then, Matthew glared at him! Samuel was so scared, he left the cafe without another word!"

What really happened was not so exiting. Matthew just patiently waited for the guy bothering him to leave, and he did just that. Then frosty showed up...

"Suddenly, Frosty came crashing on through the window! He started flipping over tables and smashing plates! Everyone was in a panic, except for brave Matthew. He was still sitting down calmly, which confused Frosty."

Matthew remembered sitting at the table, staring out the window when suddenly a man burst through the door. A cloaked man with a mask made of ice. Everyone paniced when he entered. Some got up from their seats, ready to flee. Matthew looked over at the door to see what was so scary about this person. A black figure with a large, oval shaped piece of ice where his face should be. The cloaked man stretched his arm out with his fist balled. It seemed to be made of water. Liquid covered his skin entirely. Everyone got tense. When the strange man spread his fingers, large spheres of water appeared and started crashing into everything. He then made a whip made of water and started knocking over tables with it. Matthew pushed his table to the ground, set it sideways and shielded himself with it.

"Frosty stopped and looked over at him, and Matthew stood up and approached him. 'Don't do it! It's too dangerous!' the women shouted! Matthew ignored their warnings and told Frosty he had best leave this island if he wanted to live! Frosty tried to attack, but Matthew was too quick. With one blast of wind he knocked Frosty flat on his rear and sent him running to his mother!"

Said the Mayor. His two friends applauded.

When Matthew was in the cafe, his fear of death in that moment cause him to panic and send a blast of wind in Frosty's direction. At about the same time the wind would have hit him, a blizzard came out of nowhere and covered Frosty's body completely. Matthew's blast of wind blew away the blizzard and the cloaked man was gone. He had somehow vanished completely like a ghost. Everyone in the cafe thanked him as if he even did anything, which vegan his sudden popularity.

"That's kind of an exaggerated version of what happened..."

Said Matthew.

"Well, you still saved the day!"

Said the Mayor. The old man smiled at him.

"We truly are grateful you've come to put an end to his mischief once and for all!"

Matthew sighed.

"I can't really do much to help you. My telekinesis isn't very powerful yet. Levi is much more suited for the job than I am."

"But you're the only one here who can use telekinesis, Matthew! You are much stronger than you give yourself credit for!"

The mayor protested.

"He doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to."

Said Levi. Matthew jumped, as well as the other three men. Levi was standing in plain sight, just a few feet away from them but he wasn't there a second ago. Levi was often referred to as the 'ninja' because of how good he was at sneaking up on people as well as fighting.

"Good heavens, you nearly gave me a heart attack! Will you stop doing that already?!"

Said the Mayor.

"We will find a way to catch Frost eventually. For now, what we should be focusing on is helping Matthew get home safely. He's been stuck on this island for three days and you guys have done nothing to help him!"

His dark eyes bore into the mayor's.

"H-hold on now, Levi. There's n-no need to b-"

"And you keep going around telling people that Matthew had already agreed to help, when he's just as frightened as the rest of us! Even I'm scared of Frosty for s sake! Have you ever considered how he feels?! Of course your sorry ass hasn't! YOU are the mayor. It is supposed to be YOUR job to do something about these kinds of issues!"

Levi was yelling now. The mayor was as pale as a cloud and trembling in fear.

"Apologise."

Demanded Levi

"I-I'm s-"

"TO MATTHEW, IDIOT!"

Matthew's expression hadn't changed at all, which ther mayor's friends thought was funny.

"I'm not really angry."

Said Matthew.

"Still, you didn't ask to be out into this situation."

Said Levi. Matthew really appreciated how understanding he was. The mayor sighed.

"You're right, Levi. I was being foolish. Matthew, I apologise. I'll have a friend of mine build a boat for you. It might take a few days for it to be ready, though."

"Thank you, sir. Sorry I couldn't help you."
