Nutsy (2015-02-03 17:54:01)We can ask, but we can't guarantee they'll come.

SicSemperTyra (2015-02-03 19:36:24)I just don't want the forums to be filled with chatfags. Otherwise, this is a great idea.
brb dying inside
Destroiya (2015-02-03 22:28:29)Who says it has to be chatfags? Get the newb to the forum before he/she goes to chat.
I just exist at this point. Nothing too special going on.
Jason2k15 (2015-02-03 22:36:06)^Exactly.
There are innumerable members going on and about on the profiles & PMs as soon as they first register. That isn't a problem to me, but at least add in 5 or more new forumers into our master race. And I bet the new users that go on PMs and/or profiles only came to online date, cyber, etc. At least a small percent.
I'll be checking in on this site from time to time. It's not as good as it used to be, but it wouldn't hurt to check in.
carlos11 (2015-02-03 23:37:59)Why are you such a radical?
Language is a tool for efficient communication. The internet is a tool for fast communication. Do not defy both intents by posting incoherent writing.

"Hurr hurr chat fags hurr hurr I don't know half of them but I want to join the 'I hate people who use the chats' circlejerk in an attempt to be funny."
This is even stupider than when people were treated as inferior on an intellectual level just by being new in general. You people act like you are deep and philosophical, an intelligent hermit with all kinds of wisdom bottled up inside them that is only shown on the internet, but the second a chat user comes into the forums, no matter what he or she says, you give harsh unnecessary insults to feel included in this over-glorified circle of little kids furiously beating off to that fact that they are sharing a moment of mutual agreement that means absolutely nothing.
Give me a break.

carlos11 (2015-02-04 04:25:38)Most of you are imbeciles. Most of you are no better than typical chat scum.

Destroiya (2015-02-04 13:29:34)I'm a hybrid.
You're a hybrid.
We're hybrids.
Come on Carlos.

The forums aren't as active as they should be as newcomers won't see it on their 3DS homepage (the yellow buttons aren't obvious enough), and others don't feel welcomed. We can't just let the community be split in half with some using the forums and others the profiles, only. Our forums are part of our community's prestige and should be open to every member.
We should encourage activity in the forums. How can you help?
- Ask in chat if users would like to participate your thread (by asking them to type /thd <ID of thread>
- Simply tell them.
For those of you being pessimistic thinking it will make the forums worse, consider this:
- Forums encourage good use of grammar;
- Forums are a good way to spread messages to the whole community, so if you want to share something, more people will see it;
- New users of the forums will adapt their behavior to that of the other forums users, resulting in more thought-out posts and threads. (Yes, there are plenty of quality threads on the forums.)
- More general activity and possibly more mod work.
And of course, if someone does something that's annoying or against the rules, tell them. Shoot them a PM or just reply in the same thread - it can only do good. You can make the forums have more quality posts.
