You know on PC version where underneath the header, there are interactive buttons like "Home", "About the 3DS", "Chat", etc? Well, I was thinking we could change that up a little. First, we should either

1.) Remove About the 3DS(everyone knows about it unless they've been living under a rock).

or

2.) Change it into something like "About the Latest Console" where when Nintendo make a new console, they remove the old console's bio and tell about the new one. (ex. Tell about the New 3DS and New 3DS XL and have someone have the responsibility of updating it)

Now that we have that covered, I think we should have a separate button for "Status". What's the point of working on a feature if nobody is even going to use it? I feel like nobody uses it because it's hard to find.

Also, one last thing. I think we should add a "Settings/Options" button. In here, you can change your username twice a month(but a moderator has to approve of it before it is officially changed), change your cSplit, have notifications and choose what to be notified in(such as messages or comments/replies on your forum or status posts), and stuff like that.

Okay, one more that's just off the topic. I think in the App Shop, we should have one that's called "Themes" and it's where we can choose themes for Plaza, like choosing combinations of colors for the outer and inner backgrounds, choosing game character themes, etc.

Sounds like an overhaul of the user interface. I like where you're going with this. All these changes would be for the better and I can't think of any way to build on your ideas because it doesn't seem like they can be improved.
