I think there should be a refresh button on the threads so instead of refreshing the whole page I just refreshes the thread part itself

Pros: it would mean you can just simply press the button to refresh your thread and see if there's any new comments

I don't think you understand how forums work. You're not supposed to post and wait for someone to reply, all the while refreshing the page every five seconds. Forums are designed to allow for the creation of discussions that span several days, weeks, etc. You're supposed to reply to posts and then leave. You come back whenever you feel like it, but you do not stay and wait.
