^ Agreed, please, mods, close this thread.

That is unless you @Roseishere, were planning to build a Rp off of the most popular tale?

I was planning to make a rp based off a fairy tale

I see. For the most part, Fantasy RPs require you make the entire mythos from scratch, or you borrow several elements from other fantasy works and alter them to fit together better with your own setting.

Generally, Fairy tales from all sorts of cultures can get mixed together to get great fantasy worlds, so quite a bit of reading is necessary to get material to build from.

Think of it this way.

Think of how far do you want the fantasy elements to go, and apply this to things you wish to include or ignore.

If the idea of building an entire mythos is too daunting, you can mainly make a Fantasy RP, and instead of listing the things you do wish to include, begin by listing the things that aren't included in your setting, or that if they're different from the "Standard"

An Example: Vampires originally could not cross running water, this is no longer the case, but including this deviates from the current "Standard".

As someone running the RP, it's ultimately your call on which mythos you won't allow, and the right to deny any characters you feel clash with the world you wish to create will not be denied to you.

that sounds super complicated
HanShotFirst (2014-10-10 03:11:42)
It is, unless you've been doing it for years. Then it becomes second nature.

If you're a writer, it's also second nature.
