How to play Pokemon competitively

No items, Delphox only, Final Destination Hello and welcome to my EV training/IV breeding guide for noobs people who want to play competitively.

What are EVs?
EVs are Effort Values, these will raise a Pokemon's stat one point every four EVs. You can only have 252 EVs maximum in one stat and 510 EVs altogether, so if you train in only two stats you will have 6 left.

How do I EV train?
There are two quick methods in X/Y. There are Super Training and hordes. Horde EV training is much faster. If you want to know how to do it, click this spoiler. [Spencer's vore free]
Spoiler: show

Step 1: Obtain your resourses. You will need the Power Lens/Bracer/Belt/Band/Anklet/Weight items. You can purchase them in the Kiloude Battle Maison. You will need a Pokemon with sweet scent like Oddish and a Pokemon with a move that hits every Pokemon around you, like Surf or splash Earthquake. Optionally, PokeRus.

Step 2: Equip the power item that trains the Pokemon in the stat you want. Their description should tell you what stat it trains. Make sure the Pokemon has PokeRus

Step 3: Find your horde locations/EV training hotspots. Here are some EV training hotspots: Gulpin (Route 5, HP), Bellsprout (Route 14, Attack), Durant/Geodude (Route 18, Defence), Vanillite/Smoochum (Frost Cavern, Special Attack), Hoppip (Route 7, special defence), Wingull (Route 8, Speed)

Step 4: Keep encountering and beating the crap out of the hordes. After one stat, move to another hotspot (the one where you can encounter the right horde) and switch items for the stat you're training in. After maxing out that stat, just use a Super Training level 2 on any stat (unless you're raising a pure physical attacker, don't use it on special attack. Same thing reversed)

IVs are similar, except you have to breed for them.
You want to breed for a perfect nature. Natures increase and decrease a stat by 10%. Example: If you want a physical attacker, go for an adamant nature which decreases special attack by 10% and increases attack by 10%. If you have the right Pokemon with the right nature, give it an everstone. Guide below will explain.
Spoiler: show

Step 1: Own the resources. You will need: A Ditto from the Friend Safari, Everstone and a Destiny Knot.

Step 2: Equip the Destiny Knot on to the Ditto and put it in the daycare.

Step 3: Put the Pokemon you want to breed in the daycare. If it already has the right nature, give it an Everstone.

Step 4: Cycle around for a bit.

Step 5: If the daycare man looks at you, talk to him and take the egg.

Step 6: You can keep 5 eggs at a time if you have one Pokemon in your party, this should be a flame body Talonflame/Fletchinder and needs to be in the lead slot. Now, keep cycling and collecting eggs.

Step 7: When all 5 hatch, fly to Kiloude Pokemon Center and talk to the Ace Trainer. He will say how many IVs your Pokemon has. If your current batch isn't good enough, put them in the PC and fly back to the daycare and repeat.

Step 8: Once you have the right nature and 4/5/6IVs, you've finished. Now take the Pokemon you were breeding out the daycare. Now wonder trade the rejects.

EXTRA HELP:
It's not that I support incest, but replacing the other Pokemon that's not Ditto with the babies can really speee things up, and I mean really. Especially if the Pokemon was a wild capture.

Items:
Every team needs items. Items can make a big difference in battle. They can prevent an OHKO with the Focus Sash, raise your speed/attack/special attack but lock you in to one move with the Choice Scarf/Band/Specs or you can mega evolve with the mega stones. It's really your pick.

And that's the end of my guide. If you are trying to start competitive I hope this helped.

That smash joke killed me.

Do you want to make a thread about team building?

You've should've added how to breed and almost every step to make a good competitive pokemon, also you should add a quiz at the end so people can find out if they know the knowledge or not, just some suggestions btw otherwise its okay.

^ They can. Having Pokerus and an EV boosting item can get you up to 50 EVs or more per hoard.

A Few General EV Training Tips:
Pokémon gain EVs whenever they gain experience; if you're not starting with a freshly hatched Pokémon, you'll probably need to reset its EVs with a Reset Bag first.
Pokérus doubles the EVs gained per Pokémon defeated.
Macho Brace doubles the EVs gained per Pokémon defeated.
Power items add +4 in a specific stat to the EVs gained per Pokémon defeated.
With Exp. Share ON, all Pokémon in the party gain EVs.
A Few Horde EV Training Tips:
Using Sweet Scent or Honey initiates a Horde battle 100% of the time on the routes listed below.
Common Sweet Scent Pokémon include Combee (Route 4) and Bulbasaur (Pokémon Lab ).
Sweet Scent Horde battles will not activate on rainy routes.
If it is currently raining on a route you were going to use for EV training, choose another route from the list below.
To defeat all five Pokémon in one turn, use a powerful Pokémon with a move that hits all opponents.
Common choices include Pokémon with Surf, Parabolic Charge Heliolisk, and Petal Blizzard Venusaur.
You gain EVs for each Pokémon defeated in battle. In Horde battles, you gain a total of five times the regular EVs.
Power item, Macho Brace, and Pokérus boosts are applied to each Pokémon defeated.
With Exp. Share ON, a Pokémon who does not participate in battle can gain additional EVs by equipping the aforementioned EV-boosting items.
An Explanation of Horde EV Math:
The total number of EVs gained from defeating every Pokémon in a Horde Battle can be found at the end of each line below.
Pokérus doubles the total EV gain per Horde Battle.
Macho Brace doubles the total EV gain per Horde Battle.
Power Items add four EVs per Pokémon defeated.
All multipliers are cumulative (e.g., Pokérus + Macho Brace = 4*EVs).

These routes take into account frequency of encounters, number of EVs gained per Pokémon defeated, and ease of access to the location.
