Well, recently, many DSi people are finally upgrading to a 3DS system! Great! But you wonder how to transfer your DSi data to your new 3DS, right? Well, this explination, I'll explain step by step to transfer your DSi data to your 3DS!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THIS:
-Make sure both systems are at the latest system firmware.
On DSi, go to the Settings app, then look at the bottom-left corner of the top screen. Make sure the following is this: Ver 1.4.5U
On 3DS, go to the Settings app, look at the bottom left corner of the top screen. Make sure the following says this: Ver. 8.1.0-18U

-Both systems needs to be connected to the Internet

-Make sure both systems are fully charged!

-READ THE "KEEP IN MIND OF THE FOLLOWING" SECTION BEFORE TRANSFER!

On your DSi
On the DSi, make sure you have downloaded the Nintendo 3DS Transfer Tool from the DSi Shop. If not, download it!

Once finished, open the app, and let it connect to the Internet.

ON YOUR 3DS
While your DSi is connecting to the Internet, go to the Settings app, tap Other Settings, go to the 3rd page, and tap System Transfer. Then, let it connect to the Internet as well.

BACK ON YOUR DSi
Once your DSi has connected to the Internet, tap Transfer to Nintendo 3DS. Tap next, and tap Send From This System. (Ignore the cautions, I'll go into detail later) Your DSi will now search for a 3DS system.

BACK ON YOUR 3DS
Once your 3DS is connected to the Internet, tap Transfer from Nintendo DSi. Tap next, then tap Receive from Nintendo DSi. Your 3DS will search for a DSi system.

ON YOUR DSi
Tap the username of your 3DS.

ON YOUR 3DS
Your 3DS will ask you if you want to connect to that DSi. Tap yes if that's your DSi username.

Both systems will prepare for transfer!

ON YOUR DSi
You'll be given two options:
-Full Transfer
Everything will be transfered from your DSi to your 3DS. If you chose this, follow the on-screen instructions, then you'll be ready for transfer!
-Custom Transfer
You can transfer specific data from your DSi. If you chose that, you'll be given three more options:
-Wi-Fi Connection Data
Your Internet settings, (such as your Internet connections, except Internet connections 4-6) your Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID and other Internet data
-Photos and Recordings
All of your pictures and sound recordings will be transfered
-DSiWare
Transfer specific DSiWare games you want on your 3DS. (Not all DSiWare can be transfered. I'll go into detail later.)

KEEP IN MIND OF THE FOLLOWING!!
-If you're doing the Full Transfer, all of your 3DS's system memory will be deleted and will be replaced with the data from the DSi. So before transfer, make sure you move all data to the SD card!

-If using Custom Transfer, if you chose to transfer your pictures and recordings, all of your pictures and recordings saved on the 3DS system memory will be deleted and replaced with DSi pictures and recordings. So before transfer, move all pictures and recordings to the SD card!

-Your DSi Shop account will be deleted on your DSi and will be moved to the eShop on 3DS. So after transfer, all the games and purchase history will no longer exist on your DSi. So if you want to play a DSiWare on your DSi again, you'll have to buy it again. On your 3DS however, you can go to the eShop, and redownload the games you already puchased for free.

-DSi Ponits will not be transfered.

-Any pictures and DSiWare saved on the SD card will not be transferd.

-DSiWare saved data will be deleted during transfer! So make sure your OK with that!

-Don't worry about the Wi-Fi transfer! Nothing important.

-List of DSiWare that cannot be transfered:
Asphalt IV
Flipnote Studio
Let's Golf
Nintendo DSi Browser
Oregon Trail
Real Soccer 2009
Real Soccer 2010
SUDOKU MASTER
SUDOKU SENSEI
Sudoku Student

Any pre-installed DSiWare cannot be transfered

I know why those few games probably cannot be transferred. It's likely to do with the whole "Sudokuhax" thing.
