Mmm, all I can say is make sure that you wrote down the URL is correctly. Also, be sure it's the URL for the image, and not just the page you found it on. Or just download the image to your 3DS, re-upload it to an image sharing site, such as tinypic.com, and copy down the BB Code that shows up. It should have the [IMG] thing and everything.
