I haven't really owned a Pokemon game since Platinum. I didn't care about HG/SS (wish I did back then, tho) and I forgot to buy 5th gen. HOWEVER, nothing stopped me from getting X and Y. I also miss my copy of Platinum. ._.

Layer 1: Story

The story in this game is good. You enslave animals and become the best at it. You also come come across some "bad guys" called Team Flare who want to murder everyone because they don't wear the same hideous suits.

Layer 2: Gameplay

The gameplay has changed. We have mega evolution (SUPAH SAIYAN!), weather effects last 5 turns, the Steel type has been changed (Metagross cries every time), and we have Fairies. yay. The gameplay is very good. Plus, guess what? MEGAEVOLUTIONBUFFEDKANGASKHANCHARIZARDBLASTOISEANDTHEPOKEMONTHATNEEDEDBUFFINGAKAMEWTWO!!!!1!111!!!

Layer 3: Graphics and Sound

The graphics in this game are wonderful, for the 3DS. The sound is amazing. Especially with headphones. The crappy hardware of the 3DS makes the frame rate lower when it's 3D, though. The music is good, too. But not as good as HG/SS's soundtrack (btw, I listened to it on YouTube)

Layer 4: Extras

After you beat the game, well, there's not much to do. Catch Mewtwo, catch your legendary bird, complete the Kalos Dexes, catch Zygarde (the true final boss IMO, he's a pain in the ass to catch and I've always considered the third in the trio (Mewtwo in Kanto) the final bosses), the Looker missions, finding all items, online play and Kiloude city.

WHICH STARTER TO CHOOSE:

Well, Greninja is the best starter, Chesnaught is alright, and Delphox is meh.

Kanto starters:

If you're playing X, CHARMANDER. If you're playing Y, I'd recommend SQUIRTLE. MEGA BLASTOISE OP!

Which Mega Mewtwo?
Mewtwo X if you want a defence physical attacker, Y if you want a speedy special attacker. Mewtwo X has a horrible physical movepool though. PokeGen something if you have B2/W2.
