Sup guys,

I want to make a chat on my site that runs kinda like 3dsplaza's. all I ask right now is for to to tell me exactly what to learn so I can make it.

1) HTML/CSS/basic PHP/basic javascript (if not already)

2) How to SELECT from a database with php using PDO/mySQLI (mySQL will work but should be avoided).

3) How to call a php script with AJAX (in javascript). This is what allows the chat to update without refreshing the page.

The main thing here is the AJAX.

This is what makes it a "chat", rather than a "status".

If you can echo rows of text from a database, all you need to do is learn how to do it with AJAX.

W3schools shows how to do a select in the SQL section.

It sounds like you didn't study properally. You can't learn how to code by not storing the information.


Also before you learn coding, you have to learn what the launguage does..
