Recently EA's Chief operating officer Peter Moore has been talking about Wii U with GameIndustry biz in a recent interview. Here is some of what he had to say :

“We were there with four games for them [at launch]. It’s been a disappointment when you look at sell-through and, as a company, we have to be very judicious where we deploy our resources. The lack of online engagement that we see on Wii U [is troubling]. It’s so integral to what we do. They’re so small it’s hardly worth running the servers. It seems like a box that’s out of sync with the future of EA – which is one that gives a real social feel to our games. The Wii U feels like an offline experience right now.”

And everyone rages as usual. EA is pretty stupid overall, but in this case they're right. EA focuses heavily online, and the Wii U has very poor online.

It makes sense that they don't want to waste time, money and effort putting up online servers on the Wii U, because, well, nobody buys 3rd party games on Wii U. Nintendo fans have a phobia when it comes to 3rd party games.

I remember on a different forum someone said that less than a thousand people were online one day on Madden Wii U. That's really, really, sad.

Thanks, man! I'm glad you've come to your senses. Nintendo is absolute garbage when it comes to consoles. Handhelds, on the other hand, they win big.

Whether or not Wii U has free internet, it still dosen't make up for the fact that hardly anyone ever uses it. Online gaming isnt big on Wii U, thats the point that they are trying to make.

@Gamesaddict-EA doesn't care if it is free. They care about the number of people that play their games online. Loads of people play EA games online on PS3 and 360, but not Wii U. It isn't worth EA's time to pay for servers that no one will use.

@ironmadden Goldeneye 007 has never lagged for me and i downloaded the original ssb pretty easily. maybe its just your wifi

I think we can honestly say that Nintendo will lose this generation. Online gaming is a huge deal in today's day and age and Nintendo is screwing it up badly.

I really enjoy online. Always play Uncharted 3 online with my friend when he comes over, as it lets us sign in to both of our accounts at once on the same system, which is amazing.

BattleField 3 has great online too.

The Wii has online that makes me barf whenever I think of it.
