Forbes describes modern Nintendo as "The New Sega"
Nin10dude789 (2013-03-13 02:07:13)Nintendo didn't fail a lot like Sega did.
Sega Fails:
Nomad
Genesis/Mega Drive add ons
Saturn
Nintendo Fails:
Virtual Boy
Nintendo really needs to do a price cut on the Wii U.

mewtwo21 (2013-03-13 07:18:30)its too early to say it has failed. The wii u right now is just having a really slow period of sales right now , much like the 3ds had.
FrequentDeath (2013-03-13 09:01:34)I only got the 3DS for the new games.. 6 years waiting for New Leaf, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon just looked fun.

Ron1212 (2013-03-13 09:02:03)I remember how when the 3DS came out, it was doing badly, but many of us plazians said that it'll eventually do better once more games release for it.
And it did.
The Wii U is no difference. Monster Hunter, Pikimin 3, Bayonetta 2, LEGO City, Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart, Super Mario, the list goes on and on.

pikarceus (2013-03-13 10:05:29)I don't think Wii U will reach 3DS numbers (3DS is a phenomenal success and it hasn't even hit its peak), but obviously once the Zeldas and other Marios hit sales will pick up.
Not that has to do anything with the overall quality of the library, but that's a different argument.

Let's assume that the Wii U fails, or performs modestly like the Gamecube/N64, keep in mind they still have the 3DS and its huge success. Plus, even if the Wii U fails, they still have plenty of $ to make a new console, which SEGA did not.
Nintendo may mess up on home consoles sometimes, but all of their handhelds have done incredibly well.
In fact, the PSP is the only dedicated handheld device that isn't Nintendo that was a commercial success.
If Nintendo really were like SEGA, as the article says, they would have had a GameGear like flop in one (Or more) of their handhelds. All their handhelds have dominated.
Plus, SEGA only had two truly successful home consoles, the other two flopped.
The only failure Nintendo has had in that area is the Virtual Boy.
Forbes is just incompetent about gaming in general, I've seen them make stupid articles on the Vita and Sony too.
