Then first learn PHP. It's better to learn the basics of PHP first. That way, you won't have to rewrite terrible codes when you're more skilled.

I agree with Rob. I have done a lot of terrible coding (for example the Helpdesk) and I have spent a lot of unnecessary work recoding it.
