Realy nice idea.

I play Manic Digger, a free clone of Minecraft.
I have a Server too: Nisc3d's Survivaltown.
It's the perfect alternate of Minecraft, if you can't buy it or whatever.

Its not a MMORPG in the modern world, hotels will not adjust to that. Perhaps houses, but it would be too crowded.
