spadeguy (2014-06-25 03:50:30)They arrived at the safe zone entrance hours later. Surprisingly enough it looked just like a city, only it took a very long bridge to reach it. It wasn't depressing or boring like Aaron expected. It was bustling with activity. Large skyscrapers set the background to the city of survivors. As they drove, the van passed children playing tag, joggers, even some people playing lacrosse. Aaron was still disappointed. The children he had no problem with. The people who were physically able to make a change he felt could be helping out somehow. This was the apocalypse and they were just sitting around waiting for...
"We're here!" Amy said "Now get outta my car!"
Aaron got out of the car, making sure to take his lacrosse stick with him. He was surprised by the view. While the rest of the city was cleanly and well kept, they stood before an old dirty looking elevator in the side of an old dirty looking building.
"Cool..." Aaron said sarcastically.
"Just wait." Amy said, pressing a button next to the door. The elevator doors slid open and the trio stepped in. Almost as soon as the doors slid closed did Amy knock on the wall immediately to the opposite side.
It slid open, revealing a secret corridor. It was surprisingly tidy and well lit. At the end of the passage was a plain wooden door. Amy led the way towards the door, but almost halfway there, it burst open. A black haired man walked calmly towards them. He wore a tidy white t-shirt, and jeans, along with athletic looking boots. The door slowly closed behind him. He took one look at Jill and a large smile broke out on his face.
"KANE!" Jill shouted, anxiously rushing towards him and hugging him.
"Jill, you're safe!" He said, "I have to leave this place though..."
The smile on Jill's face disappeared almost immediately. Kane looked at Aaron and Amy and chuckled.
"...well I guess you could join, but please don't get into any trouble." He said, "We need to hurry though. The military sector just gave me a mission."
They all began walking back towards the secret entrance.
Amy shook her head, "It's the hospital isn't it?"
Kane nodded.
"You were right, once you've been bitten there's little to no chance of survival. They have it contained, but you guys need clearance..."
By this time, they were all in the van. Aaron thought about it for some time, then spoke.
"Well I can handle that one! Leave it to me!"
Amy took the wheel and drove off, and when they approached the hospital sector it was clear that something was wrong. Aaron saw it at least. It was as if the sense of the ongoing apocalypse set in the closer they got to their destination. The hospital wasn't really that scary looking either. A crowd had gathered, blocked off by armed and armored guards, each giving the same "Keep calm and stand back" message. Aaron, lacrosse stick in hand, and Jill hopped out of the car about a block away from the hospital and they walked towards the crowd as Aaron filled her in on the plan.
Meanwhile, Ana drove the car around the back of the hospital. The crowd wasn't there but guards were, possibly to prevent nosy reporters or the like from entering secretly and fueling natural selection. They parked in a position that would benefit them had they needed to make a quick escape. They exited the car and approached the hospital. Ana was holding onto Jill's pickaxe and had two silenced pistols at her sides. Kane had the axe somewhat sheathed at his side. For a heavy weapon, it surprisingly didn't weigh him down or hinder his movement at all. Two armed guards approached them, one spoke.
"Restricted area, please show clearance." The guard held his hand out.
Kane reached into his pocket and tossed a coin into the air. It landed in the guards hand. The coin didn't have anything on it really, just a large number 1, but the guard examined it closely before handing it back to Kane.
"She's with me." Kane said, and he and Ana walked past the guards and into the hospitals back entrance.
In the crowd out front of the hospital, whispers were being told of a conspiracy. That the zombie virus had mutated to spread through the air. That it was too late for the crowd out front, so the guards would have to eliminate them. It somewhat would explain why the guards would tell them to stand back and keep calm. Rumors that were in fact untrue. Aaron was great at telling stories (
"Aaron..." she said. The crowd was loud, yet she was close enough for him to hear, "What are you doing. This crowd is angry already, somebody could get hurt!"
"Yeah, that's what the rock is for." Aaron chuckled at his own joke, but then began to realize that she was still concerned,
"Jill, just trust me on this one. This could spiral downhill quickly if I let them get angrier naturally. They want to riot, I can tell... I just have to spark it off."
Jill nodded in approval.
Aaron aimed at a hospital window, getting his first real view of what he was about to get into. The hospital was 5 stories tall, and fairly wide. Blood stains on the glass began 4 stories up, so at least 2 floors needed to be cleared. With that much info in mind, he aimed at a clean window and threw.
...and the crowd goes wild...
I should probably write a new story... but will I finish it?

...the noise the human language makes when it screams in agony. It is a pretty funny noise.
