@Jgirl94, because sexism. Men will always have certain privileges over women, and vise-versa. It's wrong, but it's not going to change as long as humanity retains the 'I'm more equal than you because I'm...' mentality, or the 'Oh woe is me, I can't adapt to new information like a rational human being because I was born this way #SpecialSnowflake' mentality. Humans are stubborn, particularly in this day and age; logic doesn't work anymore because progressivism broke the human race.

Let me clarify. The sexist view is that society doesn't consider upper-body immodesty sexual, if it's done to a man. However, it's not because men have the social "privilege" to not be sexualized, but because men's bodies naturally aren't sexualized...which isn't sexism.
It's like saying "Men are stronger than women" is sexism, when it isn't, because it's a biological fact.

In other words, not holding men to the same modesty standards as women isn't sexism, because men's bodies (alone) aren't naturally sexualized. It's the social construct of our current society that has sexualized men's bodies...most women don't naturally get aroused by abs alone, so unless a woman has been socially constructed to be aroused by that, male bodies won't affect women in the same way men are naturally affected by women's bodies. Due to the fact that not everyone is affected by social construction (especially more recent constructs), we can't assume that the majority of women are turned on by an exposed male, as we can in the vice versa situation. For the same reason we don't consider flipflops immodest because the majority don't have foot fetishes; the majority of women don't get hot'n'bothered when a shirtless guy walks by, so therefore it's not considered immodest.
I mentioned that an argument for sexism could be made because of the social construct, however I wasn't admitting that it actually is sexism...at least not at this point in society while the male sexualization movement is still evolving into our culture.
If society gets to the point where the majority of women have been so strongly encouraged (socially constructed) to objectify men that it comes seemingly naturally to them, then the case of it being sexism could certainly be a reality...but as it is now, it isn't.


Also, for the sake of simplicity, I've been heavily generalizing men and women. I understand not all men are into women and not all women are into men...heck, not even all humans are into other humans. However, because the mass majority of people are "mentally normal" heterosexuals and have been and can be observed to act in these ways, it's safe to generalize. "Well I personally never felt that way" or "well there's this exception" remarks aren't mecessary.
