I'm not a sarcastic person. I don't even like Mio. Some people would argue that my actual tippy-top-tier waifu, Love Live's Sonoda Umi, is similar to Mio but those people completely ignore parts of Umi's character that make her very very different. My ultimate waifu is my band director though.

I think you misunderstand what moe garbage tries to accomplish. All of Mio's traits are tailored to fit the "yamato nadeshiko" character type, the personification of the idea of the perfect Japanese woman, or put plainly for the US, the sexy shy girl fetish. Also, Mio being a character who only has characterization due to other people makes her pretty lame. K-On also has like no conflict and all of it is just Azusa wanting to practice. Also Mio's previously established character as the serious musician is blown out when Azusa is introduced and Mio just joins the others in slacking off.

I think it's pretty clear that you haven't seen many slice of life anime for you to think that K-On does that well. The character development isn't anything substantial enough to even make a lasting impact on the show. I'm not angry at all. In fact, I quite like K-On for being entertaining but it isn't anything other than that. As for the animation, God bless Kyoani. If you would like to witness real character development in a slice of life direct your eyes to things like Hanasaku Iroha, OreGairu, or even Barakamon for what it's worth.

Also if you like K-On you should try out Love Live. Better girls, better music, oodles of godly fanart, same meh-tier quality story. There's a fair amount of characterization and development in each of the nine main girls too, but some more than others. (Looking at you, Nico)

Speaking of Nico, I found a godly MAD the other day.
