A lot of people feel that way when they play for the first time. People most likely imagine this game to be a hack n' slash, which is far from the truth. Monster Hunter gameplay is based on frames and animations, where each action takes a certain amount of time. You have to plan and anticipate every move. Once you acknowledge this, the game feels much more fun and fast-paced.
Though, don't worry if you don't enjoy it, or see the shine in it. This game is definitely not for everyone.

My main problem was that the demo doesn't explain much. Most of the time I was fighting the camera rather than the monster.

Ahhh, I see. The demo doesn't say anything about how any of the weapons work, that's true. I feel like it was aimed more at people who've played recent titles, which is a little inconvenient. The game is totally different. There are separate weapon tutorial, entire(optional) quests.

Actually, there's an option in the demo where you can ask for some help with each weapon. Though it's only text.

In general, Monster Hunter is an unforgiving franchise. I guess the demo is like that, because it's similar in nature.

I can't recall how many times I've fallen into Pink Rathian's cruel wombo-combo.

What Hunter Rank are you guys? I'm HR7, but urgent has been available to me for like 2 weeks. I can't find a good, loyal room to take out Dalamadur. I'd like to see if there's a system which can calculate what HR you'd go to once the limit is removed. Though, it wouldn't be very accurate, for a lot of reasons. I've done a little less than like 380 quests so far...so I would assume I would go to like HR 50.

Haha, yeah. I personally find Dalamadur a really tedious boss. And not because he's hard, but because he's a relatively lame fight, and his combo is plain haxxers. Like, his freaking bite does more damage than his death-ray.

I made a pretty nifty low-rank custom armor set.

Ceanataur helm
Gore chest
S. Magala arms
Gore waist
Tetsucabra leggings.

All that gives you Handicraft and Fire Res -20, but you can cancel that negative skill still. Also. you can get a high-rank Velcdrome chestplate and gem in attacks, so it will be Handicraft and Attacks (S) (or higher is you have talisman)
