Opening show

The town of Redwater.

As you make your way to this long abandoned ghost town, you think back on the thing's you've heard about this town. The stories of of paranormal events and supernatural phenomena, the rumors of the town being a hideout for thieves and brigands, and legends of some long forgotten curse or plague that caused the townspeople to abandon the site.

You shrug all of these off as myths, however. You came here for an entirely different reason, one that keeps pushing your forward and forward.

Revenge.

You're not the only one however. Several others have tagged along, seeking the same thing you are, because you all have had the same tragedy befall each of you. A loved one had been murdered in cold blood, and the person responsible is said to be hiding out in this forgotten ghost town. As you reach the designated meet up point, the last few people show up, and you begin discussing a plan of action......

Character Sheets show

These are to be filled out and PM' to me, where I will reply with either acceptance or denial. I have a thread on how to make decent characters, try reading it.

Name: The character's name

Age: Their age

Gender: Their gender. Androgynous is an
acceptable answer.

Appearance: Their physical description.

History: The character's backstory. I'll need more than a few lines of text, and I'll give extra points to those who incorporate the opening and the murder of a loved one into it, because it helps tie the character to the roleplay.

Accomplishments/Strengths: What is your character good at? Did they do anything noteworthy not mentioned directly in the backstory?

Flaws/Weaknesses: What is your character bad at? Does he have any personal flaws? No, being "too beautiful" is not a flaw, and anyone that makes any similar suggestion is getting Keelhauled.

General RP rules, such as No godmodding, Seperation of character/player knowledge, legible posts contaning more than word or line [Unless that line is dialogue, but that should rarely, if ever, be the case], ect. are in effect.

I'll get the characters to start when enough applications have been filled and accepted.

(Alright, I'll be starting this one soon. If I accepted your sheet, be ready because I'll open us off tomorrow. For those of you who haven't and want to join, by all means, PM me your sheets. Sign ups will still be open for a short window, and may open again sometime later down the road.)

Is this based on the book?

While I did get the title from it, and I may or may not have stolen some elements of it when I was writing the plot.....

No, it isn't.

So...
Are we starting yet?

HanShotFirst (2014-04-22 17:52:38)
I'll have to apologize for not starting it sooner, so you have every right to be disappointed with me.

On the flip side, I only got two character sheets in total, meaning I'll have to throw in a 3rd wheel to keep it from stagnating for a while. I'm disappointed in you guys.

I'm sorry. Most forum RPers don't adhere to these kinds of RPs. They'd probably die on any other formal RP site... But, meh, whatever. Let us begin.

HanShotFirst (2014-04-23 20:20:16)
Most formal RP sites are a single roleplay with several topics and threads dedicated to it, so it's difficult to replicate that same experience in a single thread, And difficult to manage as well, due to several people wandering off in different directions. If you're confused on the title thinking it'll be along the lines of a D&D game, it's supposed to be a reference to a short story which I may or may not have stolen an element or two from.

In any case, I'll start it from my next post.

All right, I am ready when you are.

It the early hours, the deserted town of Redwater seemed somehow more ominous, as many shadows and dark crevices were scattered around the empty buildings, and the sun's slow crawl over the horizon brought with it a sense of unease as well, as what would be intense light this summer day was blotted out by dark clouds hovering overhead, and what little light that did shine through only accentuated this further, as it slowly revealed the neglect these buildings have received. While the these feelings varied in severity between those who came this far, the main focus on the mind was reaching the intended meeting place; The cathedral was just as uncomfortable as the rest the town, and it did no help that the cemetery nearby was more aesthetically pleasing that the building itself.

To the surprise of the first few to enter, two people seemed to have arrived ahead of time.

[For the record, your characters are part of the group coming in]

Calliope looked around, uneasy. She pushed her glasses further up the bridge of her nose and put on her signature scowl, fiddling with her braid and fumbling with the strap on her backpack.
"...Why did I even come here?"
She shifted uncomfortably and stood idly by.

As the sunlight began to enter through the old windows of the monastery, the early birds became a bit more visible.

The first was a young man, no older then 16. He had a rather waifish figure, which was a stark contrast to his companion. His eyes were a faded emerald color, which peeked out from behind his messy black hair. Upon further inspection, he wore a rather nice suit, black tie, and a single golden brooch with an odd, inhuman, eye symbol on it, and all while wearing a blank, unmoving expression.

His companion was a contrast to him. While he was about the same age, He was rather muscular, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a martial arts jacket under his hooded cloak, which he left unzipped, hand wraps, and bright red sneakers. He carried with him a bag, and a large, ornate, fighting pole, with a carefree expression.

The more vibrant of the pair, began waving at the others to greet them as they arrived.

Calliope fought the urge to run and hide, instead shouldering off her backpack and rummaging through it, pretending not to notice the two new strangers.
She pulled out a sacrificial dagger of sorts- oiled, glimmering black metal, leaves and vines engraved into the hilt.
She snorted, pulling out a canteen labeled "VAULT 13".

(For the Fallout 3 and New Vegas fans:
You take a sip ftom your trusty Vault 13 canteen...)

WYoshiX2 (2014-04-25 22:29:50)
From the other side of the abandoned town, casting his shadow upon the hillside, he walked past a worn and tattered sign that explicitly had the faded word "Redwater" scribbled in black color. The light peeking from the clouds was enough to display his inhuman shadow against the walls of a nearby dwelling, crumbling with neglect and age. His intentions well present within his mind, the yoshi walked forward with clearly visible anger in his steps as he pressed various buttons and turned several knobs on the control panel that was over the bottom of his sleek black armcannon. Once everything seemed to be in order, he closed the compartment and focused on his frustrated march forward.

Noticing the two waving figures in the distance, he raised his left unarmed hand as a greeting. To himself, he muttered. "This had better be the place..."

Still a Lugia.
HanShotFirst (2014-04-26 03:29:26)
The brighter of the pair, leaving his partner behind, twirled his fighting pole around before letting it rest on the palms of his hands. Not really caring for or picking up on the possible vibe that Calliope was uncomfortable, he flashed her a bright smile. "Hello there, Miss. I don't think we've had the pleasure of meeting."

His partner on the other hand, stared intently towards the newcomer. His cold, unblinking gaze and apathetic expression making a rather uncomfortable scenario for most people.
